FRONT DESK Job Description

Position Summary: This position is an integral part of membership sales and conducts facility tours, encourages people to join, and completes contracts. This position is responsible for greeting, checking-in and assisting customers; providing information regarding programs, services, and memberships; and ensuring the highest possible level of customer service and member satisfaction.

Experience and Educational Requirements and Preferences:

  • Equivalent of a high school education
  • Cash register experience
  • CPR & First Aid Training  (expected within the first 12 months of employment)
  • Reception, sales, and/or customer service experience preferred
  • Familiarity with fitness machines and equipment preferred
  • Defibrillator (AED) certification (expected within the first 12 months of employment)

Duties to Be Performed:

  • Handle incoming calls
  • Greet people
  • Give facility tours
  • Understand and clearly explain membership options to prospective members and properly complete membership contract paperwork
  • Handle member services related to: personal training, group fitness classes, guests, lost and found items, change of address, EFT setup or change, and questions regarding billings and payments
  • Handle membership payments, cancellations and freezes
  • Check in members, verify membership, collect fees
  • Answer basic questions about fitness machines and equipment
  • Perform general cleaning duties to include regular locker room and workout area checks
  • Process monetary transactions
  • Ensure required forms are available, and completed and processed properly
  • Sell and keep supplies stocked of all snack and drink items
  • Keep towels washed, dried and folded
  • Keep desk and lobby neat and clean at all times
  • Be alert for the security and safety of self and others
  • Undefined work assigned by supervisor

Supervision: Supervision and training will be given by the General Manager and Front Desk and Accounts Specialist

Pay: $12-15 per hour depending on experience
